Take control of your favourite Ghostbuster in this mobile puzzle fighting game based on the famed movie franchise.
Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter is a turn based puzzle game developed by Beeline Interactive Inc. The game allows players to build a team of their favourite characters from the movies to fight a ghostly threat. The team can consist of humans who are the Ghostbusters from the movies; as well as, monsters seen in the movies. For instance players could have a team composed of Slime, Louis Tully, and The Boogieman. When players begin a round, dialogue between characters greets them. Gamers can choose to read through the conversation, or skip right to the action. Once they get to the fighting screen players will see an 8x8 tile grid. On the grid there are seven different colours. The player must make at least a combo of three tiles to break the tiles. When the player breaks tiles their opponents characters take damage, and vice versa. This gameplay mechanic is nothing new. Gamers have seen it in a variety of games like Candy Crush, or Bejewelled.
To be different from the run of the mill game, the developers gave each character a colour affinity. This colour affinity adds more strategic gameplay. Say a player matches three yellow tiles together a character with a yellow tile affinity will do more damage. Each character also has special moves. To use these attacks the player must destroy a set amount of tiles to charge up their special. The special can range from a powerful attack to a move that heals the player’s team. Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighters has two game modes. The game modes are; Story and versus.
Those who prefer multiplayer will have to wait before they can jump into PvP because they will have to play the story. For some players this could be a turn-off. The story mode consists of five levels. In each level there are a number of portals where ghosts are invading. To proceed to the next level players must close all the portals. Adding to this fun and addictive experience are great cartoon graphics that capture the soul of the Ghostbusters well, and a solid sound track. One problem that this game could run into is the battles are a little on the long side. Players who are looking for quick battle may be let down because this game requires a decent amount of brainpower. Overall Ghostbusters Puzzler is a solid experience that will satisfy hardcore movie fans and gamers alike.
